A Study on Complementary and Integral Awareness of Life

Abstract

|
Nowadays, the life science encompassing DNA/molecular biology and new biology is applying the principles of all the high·tech science and technologies including physics and chemistry, complexity science, and tele-communication science to the studies of the investigation of mechanisms of life phenomenology. Accordingly, scientific theories or thoughts on life are emerging as various scientific life paradigms of this time. However, the integral life as psycho-physical synthesis as well as mental-spiritual synthesis must comprise the whole levels of body, subtle energy, mind, soul and spirit. Also, this must be understood as integral subtle energy of life, and it may be impossible to have integral understanding of life with missing any one of the whole levels of life and without comprehensive apprehension of the aspects of interrelationship and interaction between them. In this study, an integral life paradigm that restores integral perspectives based on IMP(Integral Methodological Pluralism) is proposed based on the integral paradigm of AQAL-Matrix meta-theory (in terms of all-quadrants, all-levels, all-lines) of Ken Wilber who is one of the leading great thinkers of this time. By following the AQAL-IMP, this study investigates the possibility of complementary integration of the thoughts on life in the East and the West together with the complementarity of the scientific awareness and the deep scientific/spiritual scientific awareness of life as well as the integral approach on the variety of awareness and interpretation of life which may be viewed from life science, life philosophy or subtle energy theory of life, etc. Accordingly, as a result of this study, it may be possible to restore complementary and integral awareness that converts partial perspectives on life to comprehensive whole perspectives on life. Moreover, in the coming era of 21st century, it may be expected that the foundation of the deep scientific integral life paradigm may come into reality, which may open a new horizon to the understanding and awareness of life.
